- Head of IT
£44,217 - £48,317 with progression possible to £59,823. Based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
At the Information Commissioner’s Office, we are committed to upholding information rights. We also need the ICO to be a model of good practice. If you share our commitment and vision then this could be the role for you. This challenging new role will help us to develop and deliver a new IT strategy to meet the changing needs of our organisation.
Leading our IT teams you’ll develop a strategic approach to delivering our IT service and projects. Senior level management experience and experience of leading within an IT environment are vital. You’ll have sound knowledge of government procurement rules, GSI and information security.
A motivational people manager, you’ll aim for continuous improvement across all areas and possess the curiosity, enthusiasm and ambition to embrace and promote new ways of working. You’ll also need excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of the regulatory environment.

- Head of Good Practice

At the Information Commissioner’s Office, we believe in upholding information rights. If you want to help shape how organisations hold, use and publish information, this could be the role for you. This challenging new role will help us to drive good practice throughout the public and private sectors through audit, assessment and the provision of advice.
Leading teams of auditors and specialists in information management you’ll develop a strategic approach to audit and assessment. Analysing how a range of organisations from Government offices to banks handle their data, you’ll identify the areas of greatest risk and ensure you and your people help to improve processes. Senior level management experience and experience in audit are vital. Your persuasive nature will gain you access to key people and promote the benefits of working with us. You’ll also have a strong focus on ensuring that the ICO adds value to organisations and makes a real difference to what they do.

- Head of Customer Contact
£44,217 - £48,317 with progression possible to £59,823. Based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
Data losses, the misuse of personal data, Freedom of Information. We know the public are concerned about these matters. If you want to help ensure their questions are answered, your future could be with the Information Commissioner’s Office. In this core, high volume and high profile role, you will ensure that the initial contacts people have with us are effective and deliver swift resolution whenever possible.
Our customer focused contact centre handles around 200,000 free-phone calls and 50,000 letters and emails a year. Your challenge will be to provide the necessary leadership skills and inspiration continually improve our performance and form a multi-functional department, where staff deal with a wide range of queries from organisations and the public. Caring passionately about delivering a positive customer service experience, you’ll be guided by targets and put the customer experience at the heart of how we work. You’ll have experience of managing within a complex or high volume enquiry handling environment and delivering service improvements.
A strong manager, you’ll possess a flexible approach and be prepared to do things differently in order to achieve results. Able to deal expertly with customers, including those who may be irate, you must be a confident person who understands the information rights agenda.

- Personal Assistant to the Information Commissioner
£22,330 - £24,401 with progression possible to £30,211. Based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
If you’re highly organised with an eye for detail, this is your chance to support the Information Commissioner, who is the Chief Executive of the Information Commissioner’s Office, the public body responsible for upholding information rights.
With significant experience in a similar role, you’ll support the Commissioner on a day-to-day basis, ensuring he has all he needs to manage his busy schedule. With experience of drafting high level correspondence, your duties will include preparing briefing papers, reports and presentations, managing the diary, handling calls, making travel arrangements and keeping track of projects and actions.
Of course, providing a high quality administrative service will form an integral part of your role, and you will be the professional lead for a small team of executive assistants. Your duties will be varied, and you’ll also be expected to read, analyse and comment on information. Able to work proactively and make decisions, you’ll ensure that the Commissioner is kept up to speed with internal and external developments within one of the fastest-paced areas of UK legislation.
