Invastigations

Complex cases, simple solutions

Our Investigations Team is responsible for investigating criminal breaches of the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations.

Simple outcomes to complex cases

We also help with the investigation of more complex and contentious matters. These cases are extremely varied and include those that involve many organisations, and those that would undoubtedly have a significant impact on a large number of people.

With new powers being awarded to the ICO, we are also able to issue monetary penalties to organisations that have made serious breaches of the Acts. Often in the public eye and truly newsworthy, our work is high profile and demands exceptional judgement and a commitment to the vision of the ICO.

What skills do we look for?

The nature of our works demands good analytical skills and the ability to apply complex legislation to a range of circumstances. Involved with high profile investigations, you must be influential, well organised and an excellent communicator with a flair for negotiation and prioritising work. You will benefit from experience of conducting criminal investigations and understand telecommunications and directed surveillance applications.
