Freedom of Information (FOI) Enforcement
Good Practice Team
We ensure that good practice in freedom of information and Environmental Information Regulations is followed. We achieve this by developing relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and ensuring that public authorities and the general public are aware of the access rights and obligations. A focal point for advice, we provide a professional response to enquiries, research a range of issues, produce briefing notes for executive management and help to develop guidance for new and existing policies.
Enforcement Team
We develop our enforcement strategy and put it into practice when organisations don’t comply with the rules. This involves investigating allegations of non-conformity and issuing and monitoring information relating to potential practice recommendations or enforcement notices. We also develop frameworks to help public authorities review how well they are fulfilling their responsibilities.
Roles in freedom of information, good practice and enforcement
Overall the team at our Wilmslow head office is led by the Assistant Commissioner. Roles include Good Practice Managers and Officers as well as Freedom of information Enforcement Managers and Officers.
