These are not your typical auditing jobs. Which is why our people have different backgrounds, skills and experiences. However, there are important qualities that we all share. Qualities that enable us to provide an excellent service and help our clients to protect sensitive personal information and become models of best practice in information management. Skills we look for at the ICO include:
- A thorough approach and a good attention to detail
- The ability to translate legislation into practical application
- A good understanding of business processes
- Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
- The ability to build good working relationships with a diverse range of people
- A real passion for ensuring that personal information is handled properly and procedures are followed correctly
- The willingness to work towards auditing and data protection qualifications
Our Lead Auditors also need excellent report writing skills, a flexible approach and the ability to prioritise work and produce high quality reports to tight deadlines. In addition, our Audit Group Managers and Audit Team Managers must be talented managers with the vision to drive improvements, grow our service and co-ordinate a variety of activities. Auditors must also have good communication skills and be able to manage a heavy workload.
Owing to the nature of our work, and the organisations we work with, you may also need security clearance.
